Last episode, the twerps, Barry, Team Rocket and a trainer named Riley with a Lucario discovered that Team Galactic was causing mischief. Excavating an ancient structure on Iron Island, they were causing the Steel-Type Pokémon of the island to go crazy. Lucario's Aura protected it from the effect, but when Galaxy set off a blast of energy from the ruins it overwhelmed even Lucario, and now it is attacking.... the twerps! It looks like it is up to them to be the ones....



Lucario clutches at its head as the smoke clears to show the twerps and Riley are.... surrounded by an aura! An Aura created by... Riley!?! He's been training as an Aura Guardian and saved them, but meanwhile Lucario remains overwhelmed and forms a Bone Club and starts slashing around at nearby Pokémon. Riley tries to recall Lucario but it dodges then BREAKS ITS DOWN POKEBALL IN HALF before knocking Riley down and taking another shot - blocked by Ash. He and Brock try to restrain it and Riley reminds them of what he warned them in the previous episode - they'll have to hurt Pokémon to help them, so Thunderbolt the fuck out of Lucario!

Meanwhile the beam of energy is causing reactions all the way around Sinnoh, including in the underground cavern where Barry and Team Rocket remain trapped. Mars reports to her Headquarters and at the base, Cyrus is informed that the beam has hit Mount Coronet and they are now registering a similar energy source at the mountain - they believe this means something called the "Spear Pillar" is located within the zone of the two energy sources, and they're pinpointing it now.

Meanwhile, Ash is finally convinced to Thunderbolt Lucario, but after it is blasted, it charges towards the ruins where Team Galactic is based. The twerps and Riley chase, while a bored Mars thinks Lucario is just another steel type like the others on the island and has her Purugly slap it out of the sky, finally knocking it out.

Ash wants to help Lucario but Riley - actually having his eye on the goal! - says they have to destroy the machine generating the signal first. They leap over the fissure that Barry and Team Rocket fell in, Piplup following bravely.... but not successfully. Barry catches it as it plummets, and spots Dawn at the top as she spots him down below, and Team Rocket spot "Twerpette!?!"

She's like Smurfette only underage and with a tiny skirt.


Dawn, who now knows there is an audience down there to look up her skirt if she jumps over, drops down a rope for them to climb up. But Team Rocket and Barry argue over who will climb up first, and then a Steelix rips out of the ground behind Dawn and knocks her (and the rope!) in! She lands on Barry who grumbles that he is going to fine her.... and then something incredibly symbolic happens!



(snicker)


It forces its way in but finds itself cockblocked by Riley's Aura diaphragm, meaning Ash and Brock have to continue on alone to destroy the machine. Brock offers to distract Galactic with Sudowoodo and Croagunk while Ash dishes out the destruction (what he is best at) with Staravia and Pikachu. They curve around behind Mars who - rather than attacking them with Purugly - reports back to base instead, causing Cyrus to complain that "it's him."

Batman?


Galaxy's Pokémon try to block the attacks but succeed for only so long before Pikachu lands a blast and shatters the machine, shutting down the glowing energy and ending the craziness of the Steel Type Pokémon. Mars isn't overly concerned though, thanks to the key being saved by one of her Pokémon, but now Lucario is awake and itself again. Steelix backs off and departs the stone vagina, having been unable to get its end away, and this frees up Riley as well. Dawn declares that Ash and Brock did it.... causing a confused Barry to ask what the hell she's talking about, what did they do?

Poor clueless Barry, no idea that people continue to exist and do things once out of his field of vision.


It's reported to Cyrus that 60% of Coronet has been scanned but they have not found Spear Pillar yet, so he gives orders to be relayed to Mars to retreat but not be followed, and to "obliterate it".

Dude's all kinds of creepy.


Ash spots Galaxy retreating and doesn't intend to let them get away, but underground grunts are laying down explosives before getting onto their helicopters. Riley and the twerps charge after them but Mars holds up a trigger and warns them that one step closer and she'll trigger the explosives, and then rather chillingly states,"I'm not bluffing. We don't bluff. We don't need your world so we're simply going to destroy it."

Well.... damn.


She tells them she'll press the button when she feels like it and hopes they enjoy running, then backs into the helicopter which takes off, while Ash verbalises what he is feeling succinctly - those jerks!

Luckily Lucario has used Aura to locate the explosives and Riley tells the twerps to rescue Barry and Dawn (and Team Rocket!) while he disarms them. The twerps rush off to let them know what is happening, and they.... don't take it well.



Haha, look at Wobbuffet!


Surprisingly, Jesse's first thought is for her Pokémon which she recalls to their Pokéball, while Ash has Chimchar use Dig to make a tunnel, which delights the trapped until we're reminded why the island is called IRON Island.



Oh yeah, all the iron!


He recalls Chimchar and Meowth pretty much just gives up, saying that they're done for! James hugs Carnivine and Mime Jr. and burst into tears, which freaks out Carnivine enough that it..... learns Vine Whip! Whipping the green tendrils up into the air, Ash calls out Grotle which catches them and hauls Carnivine out, and then one by one the rest are bought up out of the tunnel! But as they do, Riley and Lucario have discovered that they simply can't pull the explosives loose. As Carnivine rescues the last of the trapped, the rumble of an explosion catches their attention - Mars has finally gotten clear and triggered the explosion of the ruins!

But then the rumbling stops? How!?!


BECAUSE RILEY AND LUCARIO ARE BADASSES! THAT'S HOW!


Mars keeps hitting the trigger but the big boom isn't coming! Even though the sensors indicate the explosions are taking place! Down below in the ruins, Riley and Lucario send the explosion-filled Aura up through the air, smashing through the underside of the ruins and high, high, high into the sky before exploding. And then from the smoke emerges.... the heroes!



Badass!


Riley almost collapses and Ash helps him stay up, and he tells Dawn that the bombs were powerful but their Aura power meant that all's well that ends well - indeed, the Steel Type Pokémon of Iron Island agree, free from the craziness that was overcoming them.

A short time later, Team Rocket are on their way (not blasting off!) in their Magikarp Submarine, Jesse angrily and bitterly complaining about Team Galactic while James can't help but hug Carnivine for the way it is powering up in leaps and bounds.

Back at the ruins as the sun sets, another helicopter lands and Carolina disembarks, surprised to see the "upstarts". She is taken to the "Iron Ruins" which she can't believe actually exists, and she studies the remains of the machine Ash destroyed and discovers it is made from the same material as the meteors stolen from Veilstone. So Galactic made the machine from the meteors, and Carolina tells them that many people believe that Iron Island itself is a giant meteor, and Galactic used the machine to cause the Iron Ruins to resonate and create an energy pulse that will enable them to locate the Spear Pillar, which legend says will summon Dialga and Palkia. She asks Riley if he will help her to study the ruins and he happily agrees, while the twerps and Barry are mostly left out in the cold, no longer needed.

The next day, Ash and Barry make their goodbyes with a shake of the hand (and Empoleon and Pikachu shake too) and a promise from both that they'll meet again in the Sinnoh League... and that if Ash sees Paul he will tell him there is a rival out there waiting to challenge him. And then finally they're on the ferry and on their way to Chocovine Town.



OMG WEN THEY HANDSHAKE THEY HANDS FROM A HART 2GEVA 4EVA! :P


But amongst all this happiness, at Team Galaxy Headquarters Cyrus is dismissing Mars' failure to destroy the ruins as a temporary setback. He tells Saturn that he will lead the excavation of Spear Pillar.... because bad haircuts or not, these dudes mean business!
